The internet is filled with unique vacation rentals of all shapes and sizes. Hotels are typically one-size-fits-all, but vacation rentals are only limited by the imagination of the property owner. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite unique vacation rentals.
Treehouse in Atlanta
This lovely tree house vacation rental escape is located just minutes from the action of downtown Atlanta. Featured in countless online articles and even making an appearance on the “Today Show”, it offers the perfect balance between city life and nature. Nightly rates average $375.
The Bus Stop
The Bus Stop is located 30 minutes by car south east of Edinburgh, Scotland. Part of the rental features a glass ceiling for wonderful stargazing. It also sits on a working farm with plenty of animals and a fishing pond. Rates start at $209/night.
The Seashell House in Isla Mujeres
The Riviera Maya has always been one of my favorite places in the world. This lovely seashell shaped home is on the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres. This property has 2 bedrooms and has views of the gorgeous Caribbean. Nightly rates average $299.
Airplane Home in Costa Rica
This unique vacation rental has been re-purposed from a 727 Airplane. It offers 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms and wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean. The rental will sleep up to 6 and offers access to a nearby hotel’s amenities, including 3 swimming pools. Rates start at $360/night.
Mirrored House in Pittsburgh
The owners of this home have covered most of the exterior and interior of their home with mirrors, including many original artworks. This is truly one of the most unique vacation rentals you will find, and is very apropos for travelers in town to visit the Andy Warhol Museum. Rates average $165/night.
Wine Barrel in Walla Walla, Washington
Walla Walla is famous for its wine, with more than 100 wineries and hundreds of acres of grapes. This “wine barrel home” is part of a larger property that also has a swimming pool and larger main house.
